Varnish in partnership with Civic Entertainment Group created an immersive, audio-led Dream Portal for the launch of the Audible release of The Sandman: Act III for New York Comic-Con.
Bringing together art, technology, and live performers, the experience brought fans into the world of The Sandman.
As guests entered they were welcomed by the voice of creator Neil Gaiman and found themselves transported into The Dreaming accompanied by dynamic visuals, installations, and spatial audio from The Sandman: Act III.
Live performers interacted with guests in each space, and all props and installed elements were fabricated by Varnish.
Vignettes that recreated key scenes included custom set design and propping, including an Airbrushed moon painted by Ori Carino.
Experimental techniques including holograms and de-polarized screens were developed and fabricated for the installation.
